Running !!! that is pretty much all the training I have done this week. No bicycle nor pool time. Running!!!
Not the best for IM training, that’s for sure, but it is rather fun when you can run in new places (Spain, Germany, and UK). Running with Anat is an added bonus.
This weekend, Saturday, we got to sight see London from a runners view. Started at Hyde Park and made it all the way to Canary Wharf and back… well almost all the way back… finished the run, 20km, a bit short of target so we made sure to hope in the cab the minute we stopped. Main reason was so that we don’t freeze to death. As you well know stretching is very important after a long run. Good thing the black cabs in the UK have plenty of room in the back. Video coming up.

Friday night prior to a nice meal at a gastropub we needed to burn some of the calories we were about to consume. Running an hour in Hyde Park was fun but the cherry on the pudding came when we entered the Winter Wonderland (a Christmas Fair) toward the end of the run. Fun because we got to take in the interesting scents of junk food and gluwine (recipe see below) while bobbing and hopping around BIG and some small Brits.
Zig Zag through Hyde Park:

Deciding we had enough of the cold and wet weather (actually we were lucky during our runs but no so during our relaxation day Sunday) Monday EARLY morning we got on the treadmill at the hotel and enjoyed a nice hour run while criticizing the news anchors on TV.
Gluwine Recipe:
a bottle of red wine
handful of whole cloves
handful of whole star anise
sections of one orange
about 2tsp ground cinnamon
about 1 tsp nutmeg
Directions:
First just get the wine warm without letting it boil. Then add in the spices and orange sections. You might want to squeeze a few of the orange sections to make sure the juice gets out and mixed in well. Then let it simmer without boiling for about 15 minutes or so. After that pour it through a strainer to get the whole spices out. Serve warm.
